A contract for 5000 carbines was executed january 2, 1865, with the state of Kentucky to arm 5000 Home Guards troops mustered into service to protect the suply linse of the Union Army under General W.T. Sherman. They were to late for service in the Civil War.

7 shot magazine tube in butt. Unusual  loading action: Depressing latch in frame behind hammer allows barrel to twist in circular motion to come in line with magazine protruding through butt.
